The University of the Cumberlands Men's Wrestling program is one with a rich tradition of NAIA All-American athletes, NAIA National Champions, and numerous NAIA Academic All-Americans that have filled the program over the past years. That success is due to the diverse talent that is recruited across the country by a top notch coaching staff. The University of the Cumberlands (UC) wasted little time in continuing to support this tradition of excellence by announcing today the hiring of Matt Lowers as the Head Coach of the Men's Wrestling team.
Lowers is a native of Wadena, MN where he was an All-State athlete while competing in wrestling, football, and track and field for Wadena-Deer Creek High School. After suffering a severe neck and back injury in high school, Matt attended Concordia College where he was graduated in 2006 with a degree in Exercise Science and a minor in coaching.

Mo. – The 2011 and 2012 NAIA Wrestling National
Championships presented by the Cedar Rapids Area Convention &
Visitors Bureau will be hosted by the U.S. Cellular Center, announced by
National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) office on
Thursday. The events will occur in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, with the 2011
Championship from March 3-5 and the 2012 event from March 1-3. "The
NAIA is proud to send the Wrestling National Championships for the next
two years to a place like Cedar Rapids," said NAIA President and CEO
Jim Carr. "With the proud and storied tradition of wrestling in the
state of Iowa, I have no doubt that the student-athletes and all

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The 53rd Annual NAIA Wrestling National Championships, which concluded on March 6, have been featured on Takedown Radio (TDR), a nationally recognized source for radio and television for the sport of wrestling. TDR's Scott Casber and Steve Foster attended the event in Oklahoma City , Okla. , to explore and tell the untold stories through a special video feature on NAIA Wrestling. It was the first time that TDR had experienced what NAIA coaches and wrestlers bring to the mat.

Derek Foore closed out a perfect season Saturday night by winning the title at 197 pounds. Foore went 27-0 on the season.
 OKLAHOMA CITY - (Final Bracket PDF) Notre Dame (Ohio) closed out its dominating run through the 53rd Annual NAIA Wrestling National Championships by winning the program's first-ever team title with 179.5 points on Saturday at Abe Lemons Arena on the campus of Oklahoma City University. Southern Oregon took runner-up honors for the second straight year with 120 points, followed by Great Falls (Mont.) in third at 118.5 points, Missouri Valley in fourth with 110.5 points and McKendree (Ill.) rounded out the top five with 109 points.
